The 64th Festival de Cannes, and its companion, Marché du Film (Film Market), runs from May 11 to 22, 2011. The Un Certain Regard is a separate but parallel section to the competition films. These uniquely regarded films are characterized by the originality of ideas as well as their aesthetic. The Prize Un Certain Regard is awarded in recognition of young talent, and to encourage innovative and daring works by presenting one of the films with a monetary grant to aid its distribution in France.

The 2011 president of the prize-awarding jury is Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica (Underground, When Father Was Away on Business). Mr. Kuturica is joined by fellow jurors Elodie Bouchz, Peter Bradshaw, Daniela Michel and Geoffroy Gilmore.

Gus Van Sant’s drama, Restless, has been selected to open the 2011 Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard on the evening on May 12th. Scheduled for a fall theatrical release by Sony Picture Classics, Restless examines the relationship of two teenagers, Annabel Cotton (Mia Wasikowska) and Enoch Brae (Henry Hooper).
